Our MissionThe University of Nevada School of Medicine was founded in 1969. The diversity of patients and the complexity of their health challenges, along with advanced technologies and prominent healthcare professionals at affiliated hospitals and clinics, offers an unrivaled training ground for the school’s medical curriculum. The school’s hospital and clinical partnerships offer access to more than 2,000 beds.
The small number of students in each class encourages personal attention from our distinguished faculty, essential to nurturing and training outstanding and compassionate doctors. Working together to advance the school’s mission, the 235 full-time faculty and more than 1,000 community physicians are all highly qualified to lead the superb clinical, research, and teaching programs at Nevada’s only medical academic institution.
The school offers post-graduate residency and fellowship training with an emphasis on the comprehensive and longitudinal care of patients. Programs in family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and surgery are offered.
Research at the medical school is now a top priority. Ten years ago funding for the school’s research programs was slightly more than $6 million. In recent years, funding has doubled to more than $13 million. |
